Scarred, charred and fragmented

After preserving my silence for a while, I finally chose to scoop up the words suffocating in my mind for a long time now. The Mumbai terror attack has caught me unawares like it has everyone else. Older by another five years and almost a dozen terror attacks, I have come to hate the UPA Govt. for its inability to save lives and for being a complete failure to make us feel as safe as we should, at our homes. Bomb hoaxes, metal detectors, too many men in uniform everywhere are making our lives hell.

The other day a bag was lying on the bunk of a local train for a long time; and instead of accepting the fact that it probably belongs to someone who has a long way to go, I devoted all my scepticism towards it. Every five minutes I looked up from my book and stared at the bag, almost anticipating that it would blow us all up, scattering our limbs on the railway track, adding to the feathers on the hat of ‘terrorism’.

In my office, many of us sat with eyes glued to their monitor, following inch by inch the movement of the commandoes as the Taj Mahal hotel burned. That same day a few carpenters were at work inside our office and one of them accidentally dropped a plywood board that fell with a loud thud. All of us present there had their hearts in their mouths because, as we have all come to say and believe- ‘You Never Know’. Honestly, I never in my darkest nightmares imagined that ‘terrorism’ would become the most dominant ‘ism’ of my life; of our lives.

well said, well presented….i am as speechless to comment any more on this…as in the events which seem like have become an integral part of our daily existence, where undoubtedly, the politics and the politicians play a significant role.
