Bhailog fab aifei hote hai kya?
Here’s a man, a music director, a singer and of course a storyteller. Kaminey is a Shakespearean comedy of siblings - of brothers and sisters, all of whom like Abel and Cain, detest each other, depend on each other, protect each other and destroy each other. None of Vishal Bharadwaj’s character in Kaminey are normal per se. One is a stammerer, another a crack-shot freak, another a corrupt policeman, a communal fundamentalist politician, and so on. All of them are running after their dreams. Charlie’s dream is to become a race bookie, Sweetie’s is to get married to Guddu and Bhope Bhau’s to contest the elections. Each in their pursuit of dream and a certain guitar stuffed with cocaine packets come together at Bhope Bhau’s residence - for the climax to unfold.
In a masterly crafted bloody chaos the bad meet their deaths and the good their goals. And I felt like the footlings, shouting at my hero Mr Director, revelling in his art.
